Role Summary
You will be working within the Happy Place Division at YMU Group. Happy Place is curated by one of the UK’s popular mainstream faces in mental and physical wellness, Fearne Cotton, who has built a brand and a community that creates happiness and joy in the everyday. Spanning podcast, sell our festivals, social content franchises, best-selling books, ecommerce, app, charity ventures and more.
We are seeking a creative Social Media & Community Intern to join Team Happy Place. This role is perfect for someone who is interested in mental health and wellbeing and eager to build experience in digital marketing. As the Social Media & Community Intern, you will work closely with our Senior Social Media Manager to help create and curate meaningful content across our social media channels and newsletter, as well as support with community building of our channels.
This internship offers the opportunity to develop skills in content creation, copywriting, social media strategy, community building and audience engagement. If you have a talent for storytelling, an eye for trends, and an interest in mental health and wellbeing, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation:
- Assist in creating engaging social media content, including graphics, stories, and short videos for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
- Develop and design visually appealing posts that align with the Happy Place brand tone and aesthetic.
- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop new content ideas focusing on mental health, wellness, self-care, and happiness.
- Copywriting:
- Write captivating, informative, and empathetic captions and newsletter copy that resonates with our audience and reflects Happy Place's values.
- Assist in creating blog posts, articles, and other written content that promotes mental wellbeing, community stories, and self-care tips.
- Proofread and edit content to ensure clarity, consistency, and a positive brand voice.
- Social Media Management:
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and posting content across social media platforms, engaging with followers and monitoring community interactions.
- Stay up-to-date on current social media trends, tools, and platform changes to help keep content relevant and impactful.
- Newsletter Support:
- Help create and curate newsletter content that provides value to our readers, offering tips and stories that promote mental health and mindfulness.
- Contribute ideas for new segments, features, and ways to increase engagement with our newsletter audience.
- Assist in analysing newsletter performance metrics to help inform future content.
Ideal Candidate
- Education and Experience:
- Currently studying or recent graduate in marketing, communications, psychology, journalism, or a related field.
- Previous experience with social media, content creation, or copywriting (even in a personal project or student capacity) is a plus.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Passionate about mental health and wellbeing and eager to promote positive lifestyle habits with an edge of humour.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to create engaging, and brand-aligned content.
- Creative mindset with an eye for design and visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook).
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Bonus Skills:
- Basic knowledge of design tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar.
- Social Media content creator including video editing for TikTok.
- Interest in wellness trends, mental health resources, or mindfulness practices.

- Design a Social Media Post Idea
- Imagine you’re creating a post for our Instagram or TikTok. Write a short caption and describe the visual or video content.
- This post should encourage engagement—whether it’s a question, call-to-action, or relatable moment.
- Pitch a Newsletter Content Idea
- Suggest a short piece of content for the Happy Place newsletter. This could be:
- A motivational quote or thought of the week.
- A fun, interactive idea (e.g., a mini-challenge, poll, or feel-good story).
- A tip or hack for self-care or mindfulness.
- Write the idea in 2-3 sentences, keeping it snappy and uplifting.
