Sarah Hehir is a poet and playwright from the Industrial North. Since winning the inaugural BBC Writer’s Prize in 2013, she has written for radio, TV and film. Her plays have been staged across London, throughout the Balkans and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Sarah’s writing explores and exposes abuse of power, shifting the control of the narrative away from authority and giving voice to marginalised individuals and communities. She draws on varied life experiences, from working night shifts in a fish factory in Grimsby to making artisan chocolates on the West Coast of Ireland.
Sarah regularly leads creative writing projects with both professionals and volunteers in schools, prisons, festivals and other site-specific venues.
